The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, today, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, visited the La Combattante, a French Naval Vessel docked at the Demerara Sugar Terminal’s Wharf.
Minister Benn was given a tour of the vessel by Captain Pierre-Mickaël and accompanied by Ms. Christine Critchlow Sureau, CEO of the Guyana France Development Services Inc.
The La Combattante, which arrived in Guyana recently, is a patrol vessel dedicated to intercepting narcotics trafficking and other criminal activities, such as illegal fishing.
This vessel is one of three of its types based between Martinique and French Guiana – Cayenne and patrols the Caribbean and Atlantic Coast.
Onboard are twenty-two (27) crew including five (5) Officers, and it is a shallow draft vessel.
