Police Update Regional Security System (RSS) Investigators Arrive in Guyana

A five-member team of Investigators from the Regional Security System, (RSS) arrived in the country today Monday September 28, 2020 intent on assisting the Guyana Police Force with investigations into the recent Murder of Joel Henry, Isiah Henry and Haresh Singh that occurred in the Villages of Cotton Tree and No. 3 on the West Coast of Berbice.

Less speeding and refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol paramount to reducing fatalities on our roads

Georgetown Guyana-Guyana has recorded an increase of road fatalities for the period January 1, –September 14, 2020. This has been revealed by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Traffic Department Statistics, which show that speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol, are the leading cause of fatal accidents on our roads

Prisons Press Release- Update on the Coronavirus Situation at Lusignan Prison

The news of Coronavirus in the Lusignan Prison did create some amount of disturbance among the prisoners. They protested by refusing meals this morning, vociferously expressing their concern about the presence of the coronavirus in the prison, and by hurling bricks and other objects at members of the Joint Services.

Police Update- Findings of Post Mortem Examination on the remains of Joel and Isaiah Henry

Relative to the report of “Alleged Murder” of Isaiah Henry and Joel Henry which occurred between 5th-6th September 2020 at Cotton Tree Village Back Dam, West Coast Berbice, please be informed that about 08:28 hours on 2020-09-09, a Post Mortem Examination was performed on the body of Joel Henry by Doctor Nehaul Singh at Memorial Garden Funeral Home Mortuary, Le Repentir, Georgetown and the cause of death was given as Hemorrhage and Shock due to Multiple Injuries.

Access to Justice for Juveniles in Detention and Support for the Prevention of COVID-19 for Youth in Detention

Georgetown Guyana-The Ministry of Home Affairs Juvenile Justice Department, as part of its efforts initiated with the support of UNICEF in February 2020 following the approval of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2018, is pleased to continue its partnership to ensure access to justice for youth in detention, including women and juveniles (over 18 years) who may be awaiting trial.
