Minister Benn Enhances Crime-Fighting Efforts with Handover of All-Terrain Vehicles to Community Policing Groups

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn spearheaded a pivotal initiative by presenting four All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) to the Liaison Officers of key areas: Port Kaituma and Mabaruma, Bartica, and Lethem, under the Community Policing Group (CPG). The small ceremonial handover, held within the Ministry’s premises, speaks to bolstering crime prevention and intelligence gathering efforts across the hinterland areas.

The ATVs, designed to navigate the vast and rugged terrains of the hinterland, represent a strategic investment aimed at enhancing patrolling capabilities and operational effectiveness within these remote regions. This initiative aligns with the Government’s commitment to proactively address security challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of residents residing in these communities and also reflects a proactive approach to addressing the unique challenges posed by the rugged terrain of the hinterland regions.

In attendance were Mr. Reshi Das, Head of CPG; Mr. Delroy O’Neal, Logistics Officer and the Liaison Officers representing each respective region: Ms. Letecha Benn (Port Kaituma), Ms. Sarah Saywack (Mabaruma), Ms. Gwendolyn Jeffrey (Bartica), and Mr. Everad Gome (Lethem).
