Workplace Health and Safety is a Priority
As Guyana continues to observe Occupational Health and Safety month throughout the month of April, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety Committee Members on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 participated in a one day Occupational Health and Safety training, at the Guyana Police Force Training Centre Camp Street.
The training was facilitated by Ms. Zeza King, Occupational Safety and Health Officer from the Ministry of Labor. The objective of the training was to equip participants with the requisite knowledge and skills that will enable them to effectively execute their responsibilities as members of the Joint workplace Safety and Health Committee/Representatives.
Participants were also given a comprehensive introduction to Occupational Safety and Health and were sensitize about NIS benefits and legal requirements of reporting all workplace accidents/diseases to NIS.
Occupational Safety and Health month is being observed under the theme “Investing in Occupational Safety and Health systems – Capitalizing on safe and healthy working environments in times of crisis”
