The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) donated equipment valued at Ninety-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Seventy-Five United States Dollars (US$92,575) to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This donation, made through the Spotlight Initiative Programme, aims to support efforts to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Guyana. The equipment, which includes laptops, monitors, Lenovo tablets, security cameras, and keyboards, will be utilized by the Guyana Police Force and distributed to various police stations across the country.
The equipment was handed over by Mr. Gerardo Noto, UNDP Resident Representative for Guyana and Suriname, and Ms. Nadira Balram, Head of the Governance and Poverty Unit, UNDP Guyana. The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, and Deputy Commissioner “Administration” (ag) Mr. Ravindradat Budhram received the donation.
Also in attendance were Ms. Nyasha Walcott, HR and Administrative Officer, UNDP Guyana; Director of CANU, Mr. James Singh; Director of Prisons, Mr. Nicklon Elliott; and Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Gregory Wickham.
