The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally, visit to the Lusignan Prison Complex

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally, visited the Lusignan Prison Complex on Friday, October 13th, 2023, where he was given a walk-through of Cell Block, Lot 5.

This cell block is currently at 99 per cent completion and was constructed by R. Bassoo & Sons Construction Co. at a cost of approximately G$358 million. The cell block measures 125 feet by 65 feet and consists of two stories. It houses a total of fifty (50) steel cells.

During the walk-through, Mr. Ally was briefed on various aspects of the cell block, which included security features, the layout of the cells, and the facilities available for inmates.

The visit was aimed at inspecting the progress of the building while also assessing the quality of the work to ensure that the facility meets the necessary standards for housing inmates.
