Recognition of Emancipation Day

In the spirit of Emancipation Day, staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs wore African attire today in quiet recognition of the heritage, history and resilience that this occasion represents.
This year, our observance comes at a solemn time for our nation. As we honour the legacy of those who came before us, we remain mindful of the families and communities mourning the lives lost in the MV Barima tragedy.
May this Emancipation remind us of the strength we draw from our history, our communities and one another.
