Over G$509M in Contracts Signed for the Guyana Police Force Within Two Weeks

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally, signed a series of significant capital contracts, affirming the Government’s dedication to modernizing the Guyana Police Force’s infrastructure. Within a span of two weeks, a total of G$509,655,552.00 in contracts have been secured, representing a robust investment in enhancing law enforcement capabilities across the nation.
The signing ceremony, attended by the Honorable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, Finance Officer, Superintendent Bharrat Persaud, and a team of engineers from the Projects Department, showcased the collaborative effort driving these pivotal initiatives.
On August 8, 2024, three capital contracts were signed, including:
1. Construction of Female Barracks at Dora Academy
o Contractor: Green Plains Enterprise
o Contract Sum: G$84,973,455.00
2. Construction of Lecture Hall at Dora Police Academy
o Contractor: Orin’s Supreme
o Contract Sum: G$87,830,663.00
3. Construction of Access Way
o Contractor: D&S Construction
o Contract Sum: G$102,688,320.00
Earlier, on July 24, 2024, five additional capital contracts were signed, encompassing various modernization projects:
1. Construction of Boat House at Port Kaituma, Region No.1
o Contractor: Kawal Ramdeen Gen. Const & Office Furniture
o Contract Sum: G$45,155,145.00
2. Construction of Boat House at Charity, Essequibo Coast, Region No. 2
o Contractor: Surujpaul Balkaran & Son Construction
o Contract Sum: G$26,903,394.00
3. Construction of Boat House at Parika, Region No. 3
o Contractor: Ceraturium
o Contract Sum: G$41,859,900.00
4. Construction of Boat House at Bartica, Region No.7
o Contractor: Energy Empire
o Contract Sum: G$34,025,500.00
5. Construction of Boat House and Revetment Wismar, Region No.10
o Contractor: Orin’s Supreme Enterprise
o Contract Sum: G$86,219,175.00
These contracts highlight a broad spectrum of projects aimed at modernizing police stations and improving operational efficiency.
In his address to the contractors, Mr. Ally emphasized the importance of stringent supervision and effective project management. He reiterated the necessity for efficient handling to avoid recurring issues and stressed the importance of adhering to project timelines.
These substantial investments underscore the Government’s commitment to reinforcing the infrastructure of the Guyana Police Force, ensuring it is well-equipped to serve and protect the nation effectively.
