Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Robeson Benn, M.P., and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally, joined His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali; the Vice President, Dr. Bharat Jagdeo; the Hon. Prime Minister, Brig. (R’td), Mark Phillips, other Ministers of Government, members of the Diplomatic Corp, and other invitees at the opening ceremony of the National Toshaos Council Conference 2023.

The conference is being held under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Village Development in a Low Carbon Economy” and will see the participation of Toshaos and council representatives from the ten (10) administrative regions at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

The conference will provide a platform for the Toshaos and representatives from the various communities to engage Government officials on various developmental programmes.

The National Toshaos Council Conference is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs and the National Toshaos Council and will run until Friday, September 1, 2023.
