Ministry of Home Affairs Observes Amerindian Heritage Month with Cultural Day Celebration

The Ministry of Home Affairs on September 30, hosted a Cultural Day activity in observance of Amerindian Heritage Month.
Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, along with Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally and staff, participated in the event, which highlighted the traditions and contributions of Guyana’s Indigenous peoples. Staff were treated to traditional dishes including tuma pot, cassava bread, farine, and vegetables.
Staff members proudly donned Indigenous attire, featuring feathered headdresses and beaded accessories, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to honour and celebrate Guyana’s rich Amerindian heritage.
This observance underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering cultural appreciation, unity, and respect for the diverse heritage that defines Guyana.
