Minister of Home Affairs, the Honourable Robeson Benn, M.P., and Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally joined His Excellency, President Dr Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), Hon. Mark Phillips, Vice President, the Honourable Dr Bharrat Jagdeo; Cabinet Ministers, Government officials, members of the diplomatic community at the opening ceremony of the National Toshao’s Council Conference.
The five-day conference, which begins on August 19, 2024, under the theme “Astute Leadership for Amerindian Development,” is being held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre at Liliendaal on the East Coast of Demerara and brings together indigenous leaders from over 200 communities across the country and will focus on improving access to government services.
