Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Robeson Benn, Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, and Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Errol Watts met with ranks of the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Prison Service, and Guyana Fire Service who hail from indigenous communities at the National Toshaos Council Conference.
During the meeting, Minister Benn stressed the critical importance of ensuring that Guyana’s security institutions reflect the ethnic and cultural diversity of the population they serve. He thanked the indigenous personnel for their dedicated service and encouraged them to be ambassadors for careers in law enforcement, corrections, and firefighting within their home regions.
The meeting facilitated open dialogue between government officials and frontline personnel from indigenous backgrounds, fostering a collaborative environment for discussing the unique challenges and opportunities within their communities.
