The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, was honoured with the ‘eyes right’ salute in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs as the Guyana Police Force showcased their exceptional marching skills during the annual route march parade. This event marked the celebration of the Force’s 185th anniversary.
The Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally, Commissioner of Police (ag) Mr. Clifton Hicken, Deputy Commissioner (Administration) (ag), and Assistant Superintendent Lall.
The parade commenced at 07:00 hours from the Tactical Services Unit Drill Square and followed the route as outlined:
– Proceeded East onto Young Street
– South into Camp Street
– West into Brickdam, where the salute took place in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs
– North onto Avenue of the Republic
– Continued onto Main Street
– East onto Lamaha Street
– North onto Camp Street
– West into Young Street
– Commissioner’s salute in front of Police Headquarters
– Concluded North onto the Tactical Services Unit Drill Square
This year’s parade featured 28 units, including:
1. Tactical Services Unit – Two (2) Male Units
2. Presidential Guard – One (1) Male & One (1) Female Unit
3. Officers – One (1) Male Unit
4. Inspectors – One (1) Female Unit
5. Force Headquarters – One (1) Female Unit
6. Police Regional Divisions ‘1’ & ‘2’ – One (1) Male Unit
7. Police Regional Division ‘3’ – One (1) Male & One (1) Female Unit
8. Police Regional Divisions 4 ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ – One (1) Male & One (1) Female Unit
9. Police Regional Divisions ‘5’ & ‘6’ – One (1) Male & One (1) Female Unit
10. Police Regional Divisions ‘7’, ‘8’ & ‘9’ – One (1) Male Unit
