Hon. Robeson Benn, M.P., Minister of Home Affairs visit to Lethem Region nine

Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn on May 25, 2023, arrived in Lethem Region Nine, where he was greeted by members of the Community Policing Groups from several areas in the region.

The groups include members from Sand creek, Wowetta, Sarama, Rupertee, Toka, Potarinau, Yakarinta, Shea, Annai, Apoteri, Rewa, Sawariwau, Yupukari and Kwatamang.

Minister Benn thanked the members of the Community Policing Group for their service and dedication.

“I want to thank you all for your interests and for working, volunteering in the community policing groups”, Minister Benn said.

Further, the Minister added that “what we want for the communities is for them to police themselves and that people from our communities, particularly indigenous communities, must also join the services, the army, the police, the fire, and the prison”.

Minister Benn visited the migrants at Plastic City, where he interacted with them, listened to their concerns and expressed his intent to provide support.

Minister Benn was also given a tour of the Lethem Police Station and the Lethem Fire Station.
