Ministry of Home Affairs, in partnership with the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana National Road Safety Council, is hosting Guyana’s National Road Safety Stakeholders Forum 2023 today (March 31, 2023), at the Police Officers’ Training Centre, Eve Leary.
Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Robeson Benn, M.P., and Permanent Secretary Ms. Mae Toussaint Jr. Thomas, UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Yesmin Oruc, Specialist, NCDs and Family Health (PAHO/WHO) Ms. Karen Roberts, Chairman of the Guyana National Road Safety Council Mr. Earle Lambert, Coordinator Ms. Ramona Doorgen, along with several other officials and senior and junior Police Officers are in attendance.
This stakeholder forum is geared at providing a mechanism for a broad group of stakeholders to share perspectives and define ways to contribute collectively towards advancing road safety efforts.
The forum will address the commitment of the key stakeholders and partners and continue further consultation to achieve the UN General Assembly’s second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.
The forum will also facilitate the process of reviewing the Guyana National Road Safety Strategy 2023-2030 and the National Action Plan 2023-2028, which are part of the actions taken by the Decade of Actions for Road Safety 2021-2030
