Guyana Welcomes 11 New Citizens in Heartfelt Ceremony

The Ministry of Home Affairs Immigration Support Services department held a simple yet significant certificate-issuing ceremony to welcome 11 new citizens from seven different countries who gained Guyanese citizenship through registration and naturalisation.
The ceremony was attended by Permanent Secretary Andre Ally, Head of Immigration Support Services Ms. Michelle Davis, and Ms. Jessica Bacchus from the Citizenship Section.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary Ally congratulated the new citizens on this significant milestone and extended a warm welcome to them as the newest members of the Guyanese nation. He spoke about the importance of citizenship, not just as a legal status but as a shared commitment to the values, ideals, and progress of the country.
Mr. Ally further highlighted that Guyana’s strength lies in its diversity of cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds, which have been woven together into a vibrant, unique national identity. He expressed his confidence that the new citizens would add to this rich culture with their own traditions and perspectives.
The Permanent Secretary also emphasised the responsibilities that come with citizenship, encouraging the new citizens to be active and engaged members of society, upholding the laws, and contributing to the nation’s development.
