Earlier today, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Andre Ally, joined Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Hon. Sonia Parag, and Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh, for the official handing-over ceremony to the Region Six Democratic Council.
These state-of-the-art mini firefighting vehicles will significantly improve emergency response times, particularly in communities located far from established fire stations. To ensure their effective use, auxiliary firefighters have been trained nationwide, and all Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) have been equipped with the necessary facilities to house and maintain these vital assets.
Ministers Parag and Singh commended this initiative by His Excellency, President Dr. Irfaan Ali, highlighting its critical role in strengthening fire safety across the region. They urged the NDCs to prioritize the upkeep and readiness of these vehicles to ensure a swift response to emergencies.
Also in attendance at the handing-over ceremony were Regional Chairman David Armogan, Regional Vice Chairman Zamal Hussain, Regional Executive Officer Narendra Persaud, and other key regional officials.
This initiative reaffirms the governmentโ€™s commitment to safeguarding communities and enhancing emergency response infrastructure nationwide.
