American Ambassador, H.E. Sarah-Ann Lynch, paid a courtesy call today, September 5, 2023, on the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, to bid him farewell as she moves on to a new post.
“I’m happy in any event that the United States of America can rely on your experience over your intervening period here and, of course, that you are a friend of Guyana and the Caribbean. I want to wish you every success in your new posting”, Minister Benn expressed as he thanked Ambassador Lynch for her service to the country and her partnership with the Ministry.
Minister Benn also thanked the outgoing Ambassador for her strong intervention in respect of securing Guyana’s Democracy.
Since Ambassador Lynch’s appointment in March 2019, bilateral relations have greatly strengthened. She has spearheaded several important projects aimed at social and economic development as well as strengthening national security in Guyana.
Sarah-Ann Lynch was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on January 2, 2019, and sworn in on January 7, 2019, as Ambassador to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. She presented her credentials in Guyana on March 13, 2019. She previously served as Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator and Acting Assistant Administrator in USAID’s Latin America and Caribbean Bureau.
Diplomatic relations between Guyana and the United States of America and the American Embassy in Georgetown were established on May 26, 1966, with Delmar R. Carlson as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim.
