Visit at New Brickdam Police Station Construction Site

Minister Benn, PS Ally Conduct Site Visit at New Brickdam Police Station Construction Site
In a significant stride towards fortifying law enforcement infrastructure, the Honourable Robeson Benn, Minister of Home Affairs, and Mr. Andre Ally, Permanent Secretary, earlier today conducted a pivotal site visit to the new Brickdam Police Station. This visit marks a crucial milestone in the reconstruction efforts following the devastating fire that destroyed the previous wooden complex on October 2, 2021.
Poised to be a beacon of modernity and efficiency, the new Brickdam Police Station, located within the ‘A’ Division Headquarters, is a $28 million USD state-of-the-art edifice that will stand tall at 12 stories. This impressive structure serves as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to providing cutting-edge facilities for its law enforcement agencies.
Currently at 8 percent completion, the project is progressing steadily and is expected to gain momentum in the coming weeks. During their visit, Minister Benn and Permanent Secretary Ally were briefed on the current progress, including the ongoing test piling phase, which is being conducted to form the permanent foundation. This crucial piling phase is anticipated to be completed within five weeks.
The new facility will feature dedicated departments for traffic management, financial operations, and an impact base to effectively address community concerns. Constructed with the latest advancements in building materials and safety protocols, the structure will seamlessly blend glass and concrete elements, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
This ambitious project is a collaborative effort between R. Bassoo and Sons Construction and Qing Jian Group Company Guyana Incorporated, drawing on the expertise of both local and international partners. With an estimated completion timeline of 30 months, the Ministry of Home Affairs is optimistic about the swift progress and the eventual inauguration of this vital infrastructure.
