The Guyana Police Force Rolls Out Christmas Policing Plan 2022

The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Robeson Benn, attended the launching of the Guyana Police Force Christmas Policing Plan 2022 earlier today (November 15, 2022) at the Police Officers Mess, Eve-Leary.
The GPF’s plans for the Christmas season, which has commenced today, will run until January 15th, 2023 and aim to provide a safe and secure environment for citizens, visitors, businesses and commuters during the upcoming holidays.
Presentations on the police posture were done by Crime Chief Mr. Wendell Blanhum, Commander for Regional Division 4’A’ Mr. Simon Mc Bean, and Traffic Chief Mr. Denis Stephen.
CHRISTMAS POLICING POSTURE INCLUDES
Increase in the deployment of uniform and Plain Clothes ranks day and night during the festive season
• Increased deployment of Mobile and foot patrols
Fully operational Police booths will be located at various locations across the 12 police Regions- (receive crime reports and take action)
Deployment of the Marine, Mounted branch and Canine ranks
• Publication of Safety Tips by the CCU
• Policing crime HOT SPOTS
• Identify suspicious Known characters at busy shopping areas, commercial banks, car parks and night spots and take action to reduce the opportunity of them committing criminal acts
• Briefing members of the business community on how to keep customers safe
•CHRISTMAS POLICING POSTURE
• Maintaining a robust presence at choke points, checkpoints and border locations.
• Increase deployment at the CJA & Ogle Airports
• Ranks will be recalled from their vacation leave on the Is December,
2022
• A team of ranks from the Major Crimes Unit will be on standby on a 24 hours basis to be dispatched to any police region to investigate very serious and complicated cases of murders or other serious offences
• Supplement deployment with recruits to patrol the streets
