Ministry of Home Affairs

Happy Emancipation Day, Guyana.

Today, we honour the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of the African men and women whose fight for freedom helped shape the nation we proudly call home.
As we observe the 188th anniversary of Emancipation, we celebrate the lasting contributions of Afro-Guyanese to Guyana’s history, culture, and development, while reaffirming our commitment to dignity, equality, unity, and respect for all.
From the Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, M.P., Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Dwayne Adams, and the staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
