The Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Robeson Benn, conducted a follow-up visit to the Stabroek Market Wharf collapse site. During his visit, he was briefed on the progress of clearing and rubble removal efforts.
During the visit, Minister Benn emphasised the importance of safety measures for all workers involved in the cleanup operations. He highlighted the necessity of proper attire, including safety wear, gloves, helmets, and appropriate footwear, to ensure the well-being of all individuals engaged in the task. Additionally, Minister Benn stressed the significance of efficient management in transporting materials to designated areas for the safe removal of rubble.
Minister Benn further directed the ranks of the Guyana Police Force and the Mayor and City Council to take control of the site, ensuring the smooth and organised execution of cleanup operations.
A dedicated team from the Ministry of Home Affairs is also present on site, providing essential support and assistance to complement the ongoing efforts
